Laminated Wood Corrugated Sheet Roof

This Laminated Wood Corrugated Sheet Roof is an corrugated plywood especially for roof. At the superior face, it will be covered with a galvanized sheet. I have been thinking of this idea after we got a tornado in Uruguay, because galvanized sheet roof were pull out from the roofs. One of the reasons was because those are so thin. Then I thought that sheet roof should be thicker. At the same time this corrugated plywood gains in tensile strength and becomes more self-supporting. Thanks to this, less roof structure is needed. It also gains in beauty, because most people like to see a wooden sheet than an iron one. And also it does not transpire. I recognize that a specific technology is needed to make this type of sheet

Key benefit

Material list

Wood laminates,glue and galvanized sheets.

Ecological values

Contains 90% wood. In comparison with a galvanized sheet roof it's a lot more thermic, therefore it helps to minimize energetic expenses.

  • Economical span (mm)
  • Thickness (mm)
  • Airbourne sound reduction factor (dB)
  • Impact sound transmission (dB)
  • Resistance to fire class
  • Thermal properties

    • Interesting concept to bend the plywood in order to get a higher strength from it. The sheet size is determined by the veneer size used to press the ply wood. Also the curvature might need to be looked at, dependent on the moisture content of the veneers. The concept follows what furniture producers already do.
