Prefabricated LVL block-building

Description

The idea of prefabricated LVL block-building is built upon the popular concrete modular series buildings 1-464 and its modifications erected between 1958 and the end of 1960 in the Soviet Union. Being very compact and optimal for mass production this architectural solution gained great popularity and efficiency during construction years. The use of LVL panels as a main structural material that bears the weight and other loads together with efficiency and optimization of architectural layout allows re-actualizing the idea of modularity and unification on a new technological and ecological level. Instead of application of heavy concrete structure current proposal seeks to offer the lighter weight of the building, strong construction parameters, and unification of components of the building using wood solutions of Metsä Wood Company. The application of LVL panels as the main construction material will allow increasing qualities of insulation, simplicity of assemblage, the ecology of used materials. In all, new structural solutions will allow seeing the architectural principles of modernistic architecture on new spam of evolution in its technical and cultural meaning. Authors of the idea and concept: Chernyakevich Bogdan, Chmyh Julia.

Key benefit

Ecologically friendly, using of narrow range of topology of elements, modularity, absence of concrete elements.

Material list

1. Cladding
2. Double battens
3. Breather membrane
4. Stiff insulation panels
5. Perforated LVL panels 8-15 mm
6. OSB or LVL panels 8-15 mm
7. 45-47 mm Kerto LVL panel
8. Vapor sealing
9. Interior cladding

Ecological values

The use of LVL panels and other construction elements made of wood components create a low carbon emission effect on the environment that makes the technology ecologically friendly.
