Kerto LVL Ribwall

Description

The Kerto LVL RibWall is a mixed construction method of solid timber construction and timber frame construction. The Kerto LVL Q-panel serves as a thin solid timber construction wall and is given stiffening ribs that prevent the panel from buckling. The Kerto LVL RibWall is produced just like a timber frame construction. This allows the system to arrive on site with a high degree of prefabrication, including windows, facades, etc. Performance and details just as with solid wood construction / CLT. E.g.: Kerto RibWalls are 6-8 cm thinner, with same insulation values and same load-bearing capacities. All facade systems and insulation materials can be used with the RibWall. In most cases, this leads to a reduction of the total costs and increased m2 per flat.

Panels are usually screwed onto the ribs. Screws are e.g. 6 x 140 mm with drill head.

Local businesses prefabricate the Wall system by using their standard equipment leasing to clear task distribution. Industry delivers engineered wood in full truck loads. Local carpenters create more value for their business and use their local ecosystem for further services. Kerto RibWalls are consuming in total 50% less wood per building compared to CLT. This helps to build more sustainable multi-storey buildings. -> The best sustainable material is the one which is not used. Compared to classical timber frame (15 mm OSB) the Kerto RibWall is a quite solid alternative. This robust construction also helps to avoid structural damage resulting from building physics. All details are designed by using the Kerto LVL Q-panel. All connection details such as: wall/wall; floor/wall; wall/foundation slab. This means no additional studs are needed. This allows to create nearly settlement free details (balloon framing). The Kerto LVL Q-panel is simply placed on the Kerto LVL Q-panel of the below storey. That helps to reduce costs and create simpler details. All floor systems can be used and fastened directly to the Kerto LVL Q-panel: E.g.: 1. joist hangers, beam shoes, 2. rimboard with beams shoes or “dovetails” routings 3. rimboard and floor system with “top-slab” connection 4. beams with diagonal screws 5. massive floors on bolted steel angle connectors etc.
