Hybrid Precast UHPFRC x LVL Wall

Description

Starting from the example of a 3 x 4 m Precast Insulated Concrete wall, this new Hybrid precast and prefab wall will bring more efficiency and sustainability to developers, designers, builders and users. This wall concept consists in mixing timber frame wall composed of 220 x 69mm Kerto-LVL T-studs on which a 30mm Ultra High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete panel made with organic fibers is fixed using special inserts. This concept would be suitable for Multi-Storey buildings up to 4 levels in case of concrete floor slabs and up to 8 levels for wooden floor slabs.

Key benefit

Propose a sustainable advanced prefab wall solution for concrete buildings keeping architectural interest of precast reinforced concrete façade elements. Elements can easily be prefab by offsite manufacturers integrating precast UHPFRC.

Material list

Plasterboard

Kerto LVL – T-studs 220 x 69mm frame

Insulation : wood wool 220 + 40mm or other bio-based material

Insert NEEL UHPC

UHPC concrete panel with organic fibers 30mm

Ecological values

Hybrid constructions may open new ways to improve sustainability globally. Finding new elements or building systems integrating partly wood that suit traditional construction is an important topic for which we need to share local ideas and innovations. Reducing fossil based solutions by adding bio-based material such as Kerto LVL will enable faster, lighter and greener constructions. Overall lightness: almost divided by 3 from 350kg/m2 to 120kg/m2 Efficiency : from 2,9m3/m2 to 0,4m3/m2 concrete adding 0,0415m3/m2 of Kerto LVL wood Thermal properties: move from R = 2 - 7 m2.k/W to R = 5,2 - 8,3 m2.k/W
