The Reincarnation Project investigates the possibilities of 30%-90% Kerto LVL in “ Grow a home strategy” a time based ownership customization model. The project proposed time frame of the current year, 2050 and 2100 to forecast physical and non physical environmental issues using wood as main materials. The designer considers typologies indoor and outside environment to build an instant modular house based on your needs either new house, expansion or a shared housing unit. It exercises the community to practice participatory design, coordination, customization and inrelation to adapt time for designing.
Grow a Home Generation “ Housing is equal to half nature and habitation.” The Reincarnation Neighborhoods creates a thriving self-sustaining community up to 5,000-10,000 residents with mixed-use space for living, working, gathering during day and night time. Every unit fans out to self-shade internal spaces and public realm, providing comfort and lower cooling costs while maximizing roof area for urban gardening and solar capture. Communal farming is the heart of every housing units, allowing residents to embrace sharing culture and zero waste systems.
Social, recreational and commercial functions are placed around the sheltered inner ring to encourage citizens to gather and move around the housing. Residents can easily walk throughout the complex. Also, the central park serves as destinations featuring the basketball mural art by creating a sunken theater around it. As inclusion the public square, market place and centers for spirituality, learning, health, sport and culture creates destinations drawing residents from across the complex.
All the families regardless of size will prioritize locally sources materials for building, including timber( Kerto LVL), fast growing bamboo that has six times the tensile strength of steel, a negative carbon footprint, and can be grown on the neighborhoods themselves. The housing units can be prefabricated on the near factory and towed to their final site of development, reducing construction costs. This paired with the low cost of leasing space on the complex creates an affordable model of living. The factors mean that affordable housing can be rapidly deployed to any part of the cities in dire need.
