The project is born as a modular solution for replacement, growth and new construction proposal for housing in varied environments in which high-rise buildings can be named, or emergency buildings, where an optimal intervention is required but a quick solution, in which Kerto® LVL is proposed as material for use. To highlight the advantages of this proposal, it was decided to intervene in the Habitat 67 residential complex, located in Montreal built for Expo 67, Montreal’s 1967 “world’s fair”, designed by the architect Moshe Safdie.
The project with Kerto® LVL is an orthogonal plan solution that adapts to the intervention project through a metastasis of materials, since it does not conform to structural intervention, but instead uses Kerto® LVL to intervene from the structure, the finish and elements such as the windows and doors of the project, where a new concept in windows is proposed, which will gradually enrich the project not only in materiality, but also in furniture, since thanks to the material's supporting advantages, it allows a movable intervention by creating a surface that allows through the window an area of contemplation to the outside not in conformity with the environment but also appropriating the project.
The proposed solution integrates the original order of the building as it is made up of modules in the shape of an “L” in which they are independently integrated, generating their respective patio in the homes, which in turn constitutes and forms the com¬ residential complex guaranteeing the development of its activity independently.
Achieving an effective integration to the existing and unique volumetry enriching it with slopes in its ends that provide protection for access to each patio of the house, respecting the same language, using Kerto® LVL wooden architecture, so that it allows an overall image for the two new materials of the building, also integrating the construction with the natural conditions of the environment such as the Saint Lawrence River where it is located in the city of Montreal.
Likewise, the project visually intervenes in another radical way and is releasing the orthogonality and rigidity of the project's forms, generating a sense of juxtaposed relationships through the inclination of the roofs, which generate not only a climatic solution to the set but also represents a Aerial communication with the light inside the project, since it also allows for greater lighting and a spatial contribution to the module.
Where it should be emphasized that the ornament is nothing more than the honesty of the wood.
Kerto® LVL wood gives us an immense advantage over systems such as concrete, which is the specific case to be replaced, and in metal constructions in which a reuse of transport container is being carried out, which has been used as a constructive alternative and reuse of an item. Where we present the LVL as a constructive element which allows us a fusion of materials and systems where the benefits of nature will enrich any intervention making the experience closer, aseptic, light, resistant, durable and more efficient.
The construction and assembly on site shows an advantage within the completion times of projects, in addition each module is developed as a system that is self-supporting, which together with other systems with the same principle, generates a resistant project and suitable for living.

It also solves many complications, one of them is that in a modest way providing high energy efficiency, in addition to the fact that the prefabrication and assembly factor on site produces a reduction in community intervention, achieving a rapid impact in communities and the footprint in the environment, highlighting that the ornament is nothing but the honesty of the wood.
This intervention is a clear example of the virtues of Kerto® wood, exposing a reconciliation of the natural elements of the environment with the material used in the project such as concrete, therefore the result of this relationship is the harmonious integration of the environment surrounding the original project and the use of a natural material such as Kerto® LVL.
